New Black Makita 18V Brushless Compact Drill and Impact Driver

New Makita 18V brushles compact drill and impact driver have been spotted. What makes these stand out is that they are all black instead of the usual Makita teal blue team color.

Both are very compact and if you look closely they look strikingly similar to Makita’s latest brushless 12V CXT impact driver and drill. For a quick second I actually thought these were 12V power tools but they are in fact 18V tools.

The XDT15ZB impact driver is compact with a short length of 5-5/16 inches front to back. Makita’s flagship 18V impact driver is more compact than this new model but the new model is still very compact.

The new XFD11ZB compact drill is extremely compact at only 6-3/8 inches front to back. There seems to be a power tool war in which manufacturer can create the most compact 18V drill. Makita beat out Bosch with their latest 12V CXT brushless drill in terms of compact length and they’ve seem to have bested the new Bosch compact tough 18V brushless models with this new Makita compact brushless drill.

Their weight also hit all time lows for pro brand 18V power tools at 2.8 lbs for the drill and 2.6 lbs for the impact driver, and yes those weight figures are with the batteries attached. It seems Makita is aiming for 18V power tools with the size and weight similar to that of 12V power tools.

Although these are very compact they also sport lower torque numbers with 350 in lbs max torque for the drill and 1,240 in-lbs max torque for the impact driver. These numbers show that Makita put an emphasis on small size and lightweight yet still achieving decent torque numbers as the current compact 18V Makita brushless drill the XPH07 and impact driver XDT08 have more power but are also bigger and heavier.

I’m not sure why these new compact 18V brushless Makita cordless tools are black. I understand that in Japan power tool manufacturers offer all the colors in the rainbow for their power tools but here in the USA Makita is known for their signature teal blue color. Their previous gen 12V lithium power tools used to be white but are now replaced by the new blue 12V CXT power tools. There used to also be white 18V compact models here in the USA but those have since been discontinued so my guess to the new black color here in the USA could be that these are the new “compact” 18V power tools as they come with compact 18V batteries. These were spotted as a 2 tool combo kit model CX200RB that includes the XFD11ZB compact drill, the XDT15ZB impact driver, a couple of compact 18V 2.0 ah batteries with fuel gauge, charger, and soft tool bag.

I got two kits and they are so smooth. They run like a sewing machine. I got some new titanium drill hits as well as some impact rated #2’s, so I’m ready. These are great, well built tools.
