It’s been several year since Ridgid has had a cordless one handed reciprocating saw on the market with the last model being the Fuego brushed one handed saw. Ridgid has been pumping out lots of new tools in their Octane line and one of the latest is the new Ridgid R86448B Octane 18v Brushless One Handed Reciprocating Saw.
My thoughts: It’s about time Ridgid re-entered the cordless one handed Reciprocating saw game as they’ve become quite popular among plumbers and electricians. Their lightweight and compact design make them more ideal for overhead work than a traditional reciprocating saw. One standout feature on this Ridgid is that it features an inline stroke and orbital mode for faster cuts in wood and from what I’ve seen this is currently the only one on the market to offer that feature in a one handed saw. Other features include 3,000 strokes per minute, a siteline blower and an LED light activated by the trigger or the grip light handle switch.
