Makita is known for their very large 18v battery platform and it seems like they never slow down when it comes to adding more tools to the system. I spotted one of their latest additions over in Japan with the CF203DZ 18v / 14.4v / 12v Hybrid oscillating fan and while there’s no word if or when it will make its way here to North America, many Makita tools show up in Japan a while before making their way to other parts of the world. I also want to note that there is another model number but the only difference I could find is that one is Makita teal and the other is white with the white being model number CF203DW . USA model DCF203Z shown below.

My thoughts: Out of all the cordless fans on the market that I’ve seen, none of them have an oscillating function that would allow them to cover a wider area. This Makita model combines the oscillating function, a 3 speed button, a 1,2, and 4 hour option that will turn the fan off after the desired time, a top carry handle, and a very low noise output at only 53 DBA. and just like many cordless fans this one can run on battery or corded power but this fan can run on more than just one battery voltage with the ability to use the Makita 18v, 14.4v, and 12v batteries. Overall this is a very well featured fan that I hope comes to North America as I think it’ll be very popular.

You know… I did a survey about fans recently (TTI affiliated) and I mentioned that the fans didn’t oscillate. Makita steps up to the plate and bats it out.
Makita is in the lead when it comes to cordless fans. Ryobi trails at a distant second which is still good since other brands have one if at all.
