Channellock also makes a line of special rescue tools for first responders – those brave souls working as police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians. One of those rescue tools designed for emergency situations is the Channellock #88 10.5″ rescue tool. It may appear like an oversized pair of linesman pliers but this 6 in 1 rescue tool has a built in pry bar, it’s specially designed handles can open and shut safety gas valves and loosen firefighter hose couplings, on top of the usual plier gripping and cutting features. One feature according to the video that used to be there but has now been removed was a glass punch used for bashing windows. Although removed the video suggests it still functions great for breaking glass.
Interesting tool indeed and even for those not in any emergency field. There have been times where I’ve needed some of the functions included in this pumped up set of pliers. Probably wont ever find a need for the firefighter hose coupling but then again that’s intended for first responders but the other features will relate to other trades as well. In fact according to Channellock, this rescue tool was actually designed by a firefighter.
You know it’s going to be a quality piece of hand tool as it’s made by Channellock and it’s also made here in the USA. Available now for a retail price of around $50-60.
