I was browsing online and spotted the iVac Automated Vacuum Switch. This is a tool that you can plug a vacuum into it and one or two power tools at a time and it powers on the vacuum automatically for you instantly when you turn whatever power tool on that’s plugged into it.
Many pricy high end wet dry vacuums and dust extractors have this feature built in but these switches are great for those of us with dust collectors in our shop or with standard wet dry vacs. This is handy tool to have if you are an avid woodworker or if you ever use a vacuum in conjunction with any of your power tools at the same time.
I’ve seen plenty of these before but what caught my eye on this model is that you can plug two separate power tools into it instead of just one like the others I’ve seen. This way you don’t have to unplug one tool if you want to use another with the switch.
I also like that it has both a turn on and a turn off delay. The turn on delay is good so you don’t have power spikes that can set off circuit breakers each time you run a tool and vacuum together. The turn off delay is good so that the plugged in vacuum stays on for a little while after the tool is off so it can continue sucking up any lingering dust that may remain.
Other features include 2640 TOTAL WATTS two input power cords permit operation from two separately protected circuits, and the iVac’s internal components are designed to generate very little heat because there are no venting holes. You also get 3 modes of operation with a switch that sets the box to on/off/auto on.
- 2640 TOTAL WATTS two input power cords permit operation from two separately protected circuits.
- TURN ON DELAY avoids the two power surges occurring at the same time.
- TURN OFF DELAY ensures that your work area continues to be cleared of remaining airborne debris.
- Modes of operation: Auto, Off and On. Dust Collector / Shop Vacuum up to 1HP or 5 Peak HP.
- NO VENTING HOLES the iVac’s internal components are designed to generate very little heat.
