Makita is releasing a new 18V brushless drywall screwdriver with their FS600DZ model over in Japan. At the time of writing there’s no word on if or when this model will be making its way to North America, but Makita has been very busy introducing lots of new tools and reworking old ones. This new screwgun gets a different design than most with the trigger being more like a drill than most screwguns but the hand position is still like a traditional unit. The housing also has a portion in front of the user’s hand which should help protect your hands if you bump something while holding the gun.

My thoughts: I’m curious how this new screwgun feels compared to other tools with a more traditional shape, but luckily Makita is no stranger to making ergonomic tools so I trust they’ve put some good design into this new unit. This new screwgun spins at a whopping 6,000 RPM which will deliver lightning fast driving speeds which ultimately boosts productivity. The new unit features a brushless motor, removable belt hook, LED light, and push to drive technology for increased speed on larger jobs.
