While cordless heat guns are growing quickly in popularity and practicality, corded heat guns are still a great go to tool for doing lots of heat shrink on wiring, removing labels, bending plastic, and many more tasks. Makita has a couple new models out that achieve some impressive specs.
My thoughts: With both units pulling a whopping 13 amps of power, there shouldn’t be any lack of heat for various tasks. On the HG6031VK features include a 2 speed switch that allows users to run the air flow at 7 or 14 CFM. For heat it hits an impressive 1,022 degrees F and has a control dial so you can tune the heat to your application. On the HG6530VK the features are very similar but this unit features a 3 speed switch for air flow, allowing the user to switch between 10 and 17.6 CFM (3rd speed CFM not listed). Although the amperage consumption is the same across the 2 models, the HG6530VK achieves a slightly higher temperature at 1,202 degrees F. in addition to their impressive features and specs, both units can be stood on their ends for hands free use such as use for heat shrink tubing overall these should be excellent options for anyone that needs lots of control over heat for a variety of applications.
