OLFA has a fully-automatic Safety Knife with Blade Guard model SK-6. What’s interesting about this utility knife is that the blade is shielded with a spring-activated guard that causes it to self-retract when it loses contact with the cutting surface. The safety guard activates as soon as cutting begins and cannot be overridden.
With a 0.39-in (10mm) cutting depth this knife is equipped for cutting light to heavy-duty materials such as cardboard, packaging, film, trimmings, shrink wrap and strapping. This knife has a low cutting depth specifically designed to protect materials inside the package, so you don’t accidentally cut what’s in the box, ruining the product. It’s just deep enough to cut through standard cardboard.
The SK-6 comes preloaded with an RSKB safety blade and requires no tool blade change. The knife is designed with a fiberglass-reinforced ABS handle and is fit for right- and left-handed users. For added flexibility and comfort, users can keep their thumb on or off the blade slide during cutting.
