Ridgid has been adding quite a few tools to their Octane line of tools which are their top performing 18v brushless tools. The R8654 18v Octane Brushless circular saw is the latest release and claims more power and has some new features to go along with it.
My thoughts: So far the Octane tools Ridgid has released have been a step up from the previous models in pretty much every category, and hopefully this new circular saw will live up to the hype formed by the other Octane tools. This new circular saw features a brushless motor, a rafter hook, dust collection hook up, and more power when used with Ridgid Hyper Octane batteries. This is also Ridgid’s 3rd 18v circular saw to feature a full size 7 ¼” blade however where the previous models had 3,700 RPM on the brushed model and 3,800 RPM on the brushless model, the new Octane model gets a serious speed boost at 5,600 RPM putting it on par with other major competitors. If this saw can deliver the power of the other Octane tools it should be an excellent option for anyone who does lots of work that requires more power.
