3 new Ridgid 18V LED lights have been spotted on the Home Depot website and are part of the newly released GenX5 18V Ridgid cordless line. The new models include a new triple panel RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Hybrid Folding Panel Light, a new RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Hybrid Upright Area Light, and a new RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Flood Light.
RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Hybrid Folding Panel Light Model# R8694221B
This is a unique cordless light because it has 3 separate panels for light output with the main larger panel in the center and the two smaller on the sides that can pivot to the sides forward or behind the light. Light output should be very bright with a rated 2,500 lumens and what’s neat is that this light has a variable dial to choose the brightness instead of other lights having only 3 models or less. This is also a hybrid light as it can be powered by Ridgid’s 18V batteries with up to 14 hours of runtime and you can also plug the light into an extension cord for AC power and unlimited runtime.
- Folding panel design-fold outward for 360 degree light output and fold inward for protection when not in use
- Hybrid technology-powers light with any RIDGID 18-Volt battery or extension
- Extended run-time-up to 14 hours of continuous run-time with variable light power dial
- Up to 2,500 Lumens with variable power dial-powerful lumen output with the ability to set at variable lumen levels to match the brightness with the job
- On board tripod mount-easily mount the unit to the RIDGID universal tripod
- Temperature control electronics-protects LED from overheating and keeps the light cool to touch
- Rugged design-durable, lightweight material designed to withstand tough jobsite conditions
- Price: $99 will be available October 2016 at the Home Depot
RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Hybrid Upright Area Light Model# R8694820B
Now this is a neat little light as it’s shaped like an ocean Buoy and similarly it can stand upright and will self upright itself if knocked over. The LED light is placed on top and it spreads the light everywhere 360 degrees with up to 1000 lumens of brightness. Just like the panel light shown above, this light is also a hybrid light for cordless 18V Ridgid batteries for up to 75 hours or runtime or corded power when plugged into an extension cord. It also includes an integrated area to wrap extension cords.
- Self-righting design-light uses weighted base to self-right into an upright position when knocked over
- Hybrid technology-powers light with any RIDGID 18-Volt battery or extension cord
- Extended run time-up to 75 hours of continuous run-time with 5.0 Ah battery
- 360-degree light output-directs light in every direction to illuminate the entire work area
- Up to 1000 Lumens with variable power dial-powerful output with adjustable lumen level to match brightness to the job
- Integrated cord wrap-for convenient storage and transportation
- Battery door-for keeping dirt and debris out of the battery port
- Price: $99 will be available October 2016 at the Home Depot
RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Flood Light Model# R8694620B
This is the more traditional of the 3 new lights and has a bright light output of 1,200 lumens. The light itself comes as two pieces as the light itself and the base. The base helps position the light as it can tilt 180 degreees or you can remove the light from the base completely. The base also has hooks on the back to attach overhead and appears to be similar to their GenX5 fan that can grip onto 2x lumber. The light can also be attached to Ridgid’s universal tripod mount. Unlike the other two lights, this light is only a cordless light as it only accepts Ridgid’s 18V batteries. No AC option here although you get up to 20 hours of runtime if used with a 5.0 battery.
- Detachable 180 degree swiveling light cradle-holds the light in place while directing the light where its needed
- Extended runtime-Up to 20 hours of continuous runtime with 5.0 Ah
- Up to 1,200 Lumens with variable power dial-powerful output with adjustable lumen level to match brightness to the job
- Compact profile-designed for easy transportation and storage
- Variety of hanging options-for ultimate versatility on the jobsite
- On-board 1/4-20 thread-easily mount the unit to the RIDGID universal tripod
- Dime screw slot-to easily tighten and lock flood light into place
- Temperature control electronics-protects LED from overheating
- Price: $69 will be available October 2016 at the Home Depot
I called Home Depot customer service and they no thing about these lights.
They are also removed from the Home Depot website.
They’ll be available in October 2016 at the Home Depot, according to Ridgid.
Not on order at home depot as of October 31?
Problem is their “up to” runtimes aren’t telling you the runtime on high mode, which is what most people want to know. If you’re always running it on low to get good runtime, you might be paying more than you need to.
