We wrote about a 12v laser from Makita a while back but apparently it wasn’t good enough to Makita, so they’ve come out with 4 new models including green and red crossline and green and red 4 point crossline lasers. Just keep in mind these have been spotted over in Australia and I haven’t heard anything about them coming to North America. A big thanks to Glenn for spotting these and sending word!

My thoughts: Lasers are becoming more and more popular all the time on job sites, and for good reason. They provide very accurate site lines and are great for getting materials straight and level in one pass. One benefit to these lasers is the use of Makita’s 12v CXT battery which can be recharged instead of replacing disposable batteries every time it goes dead. With several nice features such as a pendulum lock for transportation, IP54 dust and water resistance, and accuracy of ±3mm at 10m (⅛” at 32.8’), these should be well suited for many types of users.
