We’ve known for quite some time that Makita has been on board with the X-Lock mount as we’ve spotted Makita branded X-Lock grinders in other markets and finally announced USA models since back in November 2020. We’ve also known for some time that they’ve come out with X-Lock accessories but in outside markets but that changes as Makita USA has officially announced X-Locks accessories in our home turf. For those that don’t know, the X-Lock mount is a new angle grinder accessory mount that offers super quick and easy tool-less installation and removal. It’s so easy that accessories literally snap into place and pop off.

This news comes today fresh off the press and Makita announces good support for fans of the X-Lock mount. They offer a wide assortment of diamond blades, flap discs, wire cup brushes and wheels, and the main staples – grinding and cut-off wheels!
“We’re incredibly excited to be offering a line-up of X-LOCK accessories that work on both XLOCK and the millions of standard angle grinders available,” states Andrew Camp, director of product management, accessories. “The new X-LOCK accessories are feature-rich and meet the demanding performance standards of metalworking and masonry professionals. As a trusted brand in the grinder/abrasive category, Makita is well-positioned to offer angle grinders with an innovative feature and coordinating accessories that deliver greater value to customers.”
Of course you can use these Makita X-Lock accessories with your Makita X-Lock grinder or any X-Lock grinder even from other brands such as Bosch and you can even use these new X-Lock accessories with your regular angle grinder even if it doesn’t have the spiffy new X-Lock mount, as these new X-Lock accessories are backwards compatible with regular angle grinders. You just wont be able to take advantage of the X-Lock snap in and pop off but will have to use lock nuts and spanner wrenches just as before.
Currently Makita has 3 angle grinders with X-Lock mounts. These are the XAG25, XAG26, and GA4507, (all sold separately). You can learn more about them by clicking here.

- Grinding & Cut-Off Wheels – For metal and stainless-steel cutting, Makita is offering 4- 1/2” and 5” grinding and cut-off wheels. They feature more bond material for faster material removal and cleaner cuts.
