Klein Tools TDR Cable Length Meter 501-915 – Features

This cable length meter can measure the length of electrical, data, two wire, and Romex cables up to 3,000 ft (914m). It does so using TDR technology which stands for Time Domain Reflectory. This tech can measure distance to fault, open or shot, on terminated or unterminated cables.

These length meters come programmed with (VoP) Velocity of Propagation values to measure cables with up to 2%+3′ of accuracy. At a thousand feet, that’s an accuracy of up to 23 feet more or less – if my calculations are correct. That means that you’re getting very close rough estimates at long distances. However the user will have to account for some degree of error.

It uses a color display as shown above. It also offers the ability to tone unenergized, open ended wires for wire tracing. Provided with the tool are coax-BNC or alligator clips so you are able to test most types of cables out of the box. A built in RJ45 jack offers quick measurements of already terminated data cables.
