Bauer 20V Brushless 3 Speed Impact Wrench in 3/8″ & 1/2″ Models
In the above image, we can see the new brushless 3 speed impact wrench. The 1/2″ model is shown above and the 3/8″ model is shown below. The size of the anvil the biggest cosmetic difference. Both anvils are friction ring for easy socket swaps.
Bauer 20V Brushless 3 Speed Impact Wrench in 3/8″ & 1/2″ Models – Torque
As far as performance is concerned, both provide up to 300 ft-lbs of fastening torque. The difference comes into play with their respective break-away torque. 450 ft-lbs and 475 ft-lbs for the 3/8″ and 1/2″ model respectively. This makes the new brushless impact wrenches more powerful than the previous brushed motor models. The older models put out 325 and 450 ft-lbs breakaway torque respectively.
That gives them plenty of torque and give them lower mid-torque performance in a somewhat compact size. Sure, modern compact impact wrenches are far smaller but these would’ve fit right in with compact models from several years back. The new models also appear to be more compact than the older brushed motor models. They appear to be a little bit more compact than the brushed motor 3/8″ model. But considerably more compact than the older 1/2″ model.

These impact wrenches At the base of the tool is where you’ll find the 3 speed settings. A button allows you to toggle between these settings. An indicator LED light lets you know which speed setting you’re on. Speed 1 is for low speed and low torque for more delicate applications. Speed 3 gives you full speed and torque while speed two is the middle ground.
Other features include a basic LED light below the anvil. This is a downgrade over the 3/8″ brushed which had 3 LED’s at the head of tool. The 1/2″ brushed model doesn’t have that but it does place its LED at the base of the tool for a better angle. Both brushless models feature all-metal gear construction, rubberized overmolding, and belt clips.

Both new brushless models are available now and priced at $64.99 for the 3/8″ model. The 1/2″ model is priced at $69.99. This makes them just a little bit more expensive than the 3/8″ brushed model. And considerably cheaper than the 1/2″ bulkier brushed motor model.
