Dewalt is no stranger to woodworking tools and even have their own biscuit joiners. Biscuit joiners are specialty tools well suited for joining pieces of wood. Not so much for their strength of joints but they do aid well in lining up pieces when alignment is crucial. Up until now their biscuit joiner has been a corded plug in model as most of them are. However that all changes as they now have a cordless biscuit joiner part of their 20 volt platform. It is the Dewalt 20V Brushless Cordless Biscuit Joiner model number DCW682B.

Features
The Dewalt 20V Biscuit Joiner DCW682B operates on Dewalt’s 20V Max batteries for cordless operation. This allows for cordless freedom. Makita is another brand that has offered a cordless biscuit joiner in the past. However theirs uses a brushed motor. I have one and while it gets the job done, it chugs along. I wished it used a stronger brushless motor. That’s what’s great about Dewalt’s cordless biscuit joiner, is that it features a brushless motor. Which should offer better performance than had it been using a regular brushed motor. Biscuit joiners are basically angle grinders with a specialized head contraption to make biscuit joints. And as we’ve seen in the past, there’s a big difference in performance between a cordless angle grinder with or without a brushless motor.
As seen in the image above, the Dewalt 20V Biscuit Joiner DCW682B uses a robust biscuit joiner head. The plate can be position in various angles. It has a nice oversized top handle. Instead of a slide/lock on switch, it uses a safety paddle switch. This makes better sense than a slide switch as making a joint takes only a few seconds. Of which a paddle switch is better suited for short operating times.
I do like that it uses a sort of rack and pinion style mechanism to raise the height of the plate. It also features a dust bag to collect wood chips. And you’ll find a dust cover over the rear vents of the tool. It has an adjustment knob to select between #0, #10, #20 size slots for common biscuit sizes. Other features include an electric brake and it is also compatible with Dewalt’s AirLock system or a standard 35 mm dust extractor to reduce the amount of mess made.
Runtime:
The Dewalt 20V Biscuit Joiner DCW682B is said to be able to get up to 600 cuts per charge. Making for about 300 joints, when paired with a 5.0ah battery. That makes for pretty good runtime. Cuts per charge claim is based on #20 biscuits in red oak.
Pricing & Availability:
It is available for sale now and is priced at $279 as a baretool. Pricing based at time of writing.
