Two new Dewalt 20V XR brushless jigsaws have been spotted in the UK with the D-handle model DCS334 and the barrel grip model DCS355 .
There isn’t a whole lot we know about these. So far all I know is that they feature brushless motors hence the XR branding and have LED lights. On the body we can see tool-less bevel angle adjustments, tool-less blade changes and have orbital settings. The d-handle model most likely has a variable speed trigger with lock switch while the barrel grip model has a slide lock on/off switch on the left side with a variable speed dial in the bottom rear. According to Dewalt they say these are “designed to be closer to the work surface providing the user with a more comfortable, easier to control tool”.
We also know that Canada will be receiving their D-Handle model in October 2018, no word yet on the barrel grip model or launch dates for other parts of the world.
One thing I noticed is that there is a considerable less amount of metal in the front end compared to the current brushed motor cordless 20V jigsaw which is based on the corded model. This appears to be the trend these days as Milwaukee did the same thing with their new brushless model by getting rid of the metal front end in favor of plastic however Dewalt’s new brushless models still maintain some metal in the front end while Milwaukee skimped out all together. Props to Dewalt. Still, not as robust as their original brushed motor cordless model.
