Hikoki CS3630DA 36v 300mm 12″ MultiVolt Chainsaw Spotted

A new cordless chainsaw from Hikoki (formerly Hitachi) has showed up on the Hikoki New Zealand website as part of the brands new Multivolt line with the Hikoki CS3630DA 36v 300mm 12″ MultiVolt Chainsaw. What’s interesting is this model does not feature a brushless motor like many of the other MultiVolt tools, but uses a Brushed motor with externally replaceable brushes. Another thing I notice is this very similar to the older Hitachi 36v chainsaw model CS36DLP4, except this new model has the Hikoki branding and is part of the MultVolt battery system.

My thoughts: Hikoki is no stranger to chainsaws since they’ve been making Gas units for quite a while under the name Hitachi and Tanaka. While this isn’t their only cordless version, it looks to be a good option for lighter duty tasks, demo, and perhaps even a climbers saw. While it doesn’t have a brushless motor, brushed motors are still good workhorses and this chainsaw features externally replaceable brushes, so maintenance should be very easy. Features include a 12” bar and chain, the ability to run off a MultiVolt battery or corded MultiVolt adapter, backlit oil tank, and an anti kickback brake.

No word on if or when this will come to the USA as a Metabo HPT branded power tool but we wouldn’t be surprised if it did. Metabo HPT is the new name of Hitachi in the USA. Learn more about Metabo HPT by clicking here.
