So I recently received these new 9” Klein heavy duty diagonal pliers as part of there #kleincrusaders program. They asked me to demo them and write an honest review so here we go.

The pliers are 9” and the ones I used to use were there 8” journeyman series dykes. The new ones have way more cutting power and can blast through way more than the 8” could what I used to use 2 hands for on the 8” I can now use one hand on the 9”. They do weigh in a bit heavier and the angle of the head seems to be slightly less than my old 8” but not anything to complain about. I can cut hardened steel and heavier gage wires now without having to carry around my cable cutters. These new 9” diagonal pliers are called “heavy duty” and that’s is what they are. They are a work horse in my books and are made to the best quality as we have come to expect with Klein. These dykes seem to be in my waist belt more than the 8” now bc they make cutting every day materials so much easier.

Thanks Klein for always making the best of the best!

Review of Klein Tools 9″ Journeyman Heavy-Duty Diagonal-Cutting Pliers (Model J2000-59)

I’ve been an Electrician for about 12 years now and I’m always looking for tools to make my job easier. Klein Tools is the preferred hand tool brand among professionals in the Electrical and Cabling Industries (and for good reason), so when they come out with a new tool I tend to pay attention. Let me just say, these cutters filled a hole in my tool bag that I never knew I had. Before receiving these, I carried both a 6″ and 8″ pair of diagonal cutters in my “essentials” bag. I keep several sizes of bolt cutters on my work truck for anything that’s too large for my diagonal cutters. Well, these have saved me quite a few trips out to the truck and back to grab the bolt cutters, and time is money. They cut through almost anything you throw at them with ease. Nails, screws, wire, ACSR all cut like butter. I even use them to cut 1/4″ threaded rod (something none of my other hand tools could hope to accomplish). They’re not exactly revolutionary, but they do anything I would have used my 8″ cutters for with greater ease due to the extra leverage, with the added bonus of being able to cut through larger objects. The cutting blades are much longer as well which gives you the ability to cut more all at once. I love the feel of these cutters. They have similar weight and ergonomics to a quality pair of Lineman’s pliers, with the extra comfort afforded by Klein’s Journeyman grips. It’s a bit different from the more traditional rounded handles found on smaller diagonal cutters, but a welcome change. The angled blade design makes them fantastic for pulling nails and cable staples, as well a making flush cuts against a flat surface. These are just a great all-around pair of diagonal cutters that have become my go-to daily pair. The only reason I get a smaller pair out anymore is if these are too big to fit in a small spot. Made in the USA, I expect these cutters to be the last I’ll ever need. #kleintools #kleincrusaders
