Makita 18V Brushless Blower XBU03SM1 XBU03Z

Makita just came out with a new cordless 18V brushless blower with the XBU03 model known as the XBU03Z as a baretool and XBU03SM1 in a kit.

The new Makita 18V Brushless Blower XBU03 has impressive stats for an 18 volt blower as it puts out an impressive 459 CFM at 116 MPH. That puts it inline with Milwaukee’s Gen 2 M18 Fuel blower which was the best 18V had to offer when it came out which has 450 CFM at 120 MPH. The Makita has slightly less MPH but very close while it has slightly more CFM which should balance out nicely. I like that Makita gave it excellent performance without the need to go X2 and depend on using two batteries at a time.

Makita also claims it is the lightest most powerful blower in it’s class at 6.5 lbs with 4.0ah battery pack installed. That’s less weight than Milwaukee’s blower which comes in at 7.3 with it’s battery pack, however the Milwaukee comes with a much larger and heavier 9.0 ah battery pack which will give it considerably longer runtime. Makita’s new blower as a baretool comes in at 5.1 lbs which is slightly heavier than Milwaukee’s which comes in at 4.9 lbs baretool according to Acmetools.

Other features include a variable speed trigger with cruise control speed lock and as mentioned in the title, a brushless motor.
