Makita introduces their new 18V LXT Brushless Jig Saw XVJ04Z which they say is “ideal for professional woodworkers, cabinetry makers, specialized residential construction workers and any pro-contractor seeking a best-in-class cordless jig saw.”

Makita says that this new jig saw model delivers increased performance for faster and more accurate cuts in a variety of materials and has a strong brushless motor capable of up to 0-3,000 SPM (no load) with a stroke length of 7/8″. In fact, they say it has performance similar to a corded jig saw!

This new model has a traditional top handle design with large two finger variable speed trigger and also has a variable speed dial on the left side near the back of the tool above the battery holder to further dial down the cutting speed. A lock on button helps keep the trigger pressed for less hand fatigue under long continuous cutting. It uses a tool less blade change mechanism however most if not all jig saws nowadays have tool less blade change systems. It uses T shank blades. It also has 3 orbital cutting settings plus straight cutting and the base can bevel 0-45 degrees to the left or right and the base also comes with a plastic cover which I assume is non-marring when working with delicate surfaces that you don’t want to scratch.

Other features include a soft start, electric brake, dual LED light system, and a dust blower to keep the line of sight clear from debris when cutting (this is a very useful feature).
