Makita now has a 199553-5 Cyclonic Vacuum Attachment for their cordless hand vacuums.
Basically, it’s a cyclone dust collector that attaches between the vac and the extension wand and just like all cyclone dust collectors, it picks up most of the dust and debris not just for convenient dust collection in this chamber thanks to an easy One-touch release for easy disposal of debris but also so that the filter doesn’t need to be cleaned as often.
It appears that retailers will be selling this soon and are already taking pre orders. It retails for about $39.99-$45.

This has just been released in Australia at $44AUD. A touch too expensive in my opinion, considering the vac itself was only $59. But it could be worth it if it does keep the filter as clean as it claims.
I keep one of these vacs in the house for quick clean-ups and I normally wash the filter out after every couple of uses to keep decent suction, so I might give one of these a go.
Another bonus is that it will add a bit of length to the vac, which I find a little short. And I am only 178cm/5′-10″ so it would be even better for tall people.
