These two demolition hammers are designed for high demand applications featuring powerful 15 amp motors and accept 1-1/8″ hex bits. Though they have a few differences, they are very similar in both weight and impact performance. For example the 43 lb HM1502 model delivers 36.2 ft-lbs of impact energy while the 45 lb HM1512 delivers up to 35.7 ft-lbs of impact energy.
And as you can see, they feature an inline body design which helps work in confined spaces and Makita says they also help with balance and maneuverability. Both models offer a soft start for smoother startup and better accuracy. Both also feature beefy side handles that rotate 360 degrees to work in the position that best suits you and the situation. There are also LED power lights that indicate switch failure or cord damage and a LED service light announces when the brushes need replacement. The slide switch can be placed in lock on position without the need to release the handles.
The biggest difference between the two are that the HM1512 offers AVT which is what Makita calls anti vibration technology to help reduce bone shaking vibrations. They do this by using an internal counterbalanced system along with vibration absorbing handles.
Makita says these new demo hammers are OSHA Table 1 compliant.
The optional dust extractors and accessories are sold separately. Use the 197172-1 extraction attachment with the VC4210L or XCV13 Dust Extractors and Connector Cuffs for dust management. Users can quickly find an OSHA-compliant solution for Makita concrete drilling, surfacing and demolition tools on the Makita Product Solutions app at makitatools.com/dustmanagement
