Over in Japan Makita has released a new 18v tool to their ever growing line of 18v LXT tools and batteries with the UT130DRG 18v brushless mixer drill. I couldn’t find much info in english at the time of writing but I’ll give you what I found.

My thoughts: while this new Makita mixer was spotted in Japan, I suspect we’ll see it here in North America as there’s other competition from Milwaukee and Dewalt. Cordless mixers are great because of their quick setup and portability, and with the ever improving battery and motor technology they’re more powerful and can run longer than ever. Features on the Makita model include a battery compartment cover to keep dust and water out, high and low speed gearbox, a brushless motor, and a variable speed trigger make this new mixer an excellent competitor in terms of features and we can expect it to be an excellent performer as well.

Features and Specifications:

  • Brushless motor
  • Battery compartment door to protect the battery from water and dust
  • 2 speed gearbox
  • Variable speed trigger
  • Speed 1: 0-350 RPM
  • Speed 2: 0-1,300 RPM
  • Price at the time of writing: 28,600 YEN (approx. $256.22)
