Makita X2 Cordless / Corded Wet Dry Vacuum DVC860L

tool craze DVC860L moneyshotJust when you thought Makita had all the bases covered when it comes to vacuums as they have plenty of vacuums (for example, something like a George vaccum) ranging from corded dust extractors to several cordless 18V vacs and even 12V vacuums, they surprise us all with a new cordless 36V vacuum. We can call this the hybrid of hybrids as even though it’s really a 36V vacuum, it uses 2x 18V Makita batteries making it actually part of Makita’s 18V line up. Not only that but they decided to throw in a cord for virtually unlimited runtime. One thing to note about the cord is that it is removable which is a great idea if you ask me as you can just leave it in the shop or in your truck if you don’t need to plug it in. The awesomeness doesn’t end there as it appears to be a more traditional canister wet dry vacuum with a 8 liter (2.11 gallon) dry pickup – 6 liter (1.58 gallon) liquid pickup tank and it has four castors just as you would find on traditional wet dry vacs for mobility.

The 8 liter – 2.11 gallon max tank capacity makes it rather small so think of it as a portable wet dry vacuum and although no horsepower rating is available it does list the motor as having 1050 watt consumption which seems to be rather strong. This leads me to believe they could have made it a larger vacuum with a larger tank if they wanted to as the power is there based on paper stats alone but probably went with a smaller tank capacity for portability because of the 15 minute runtime while on battery power. It doesn’t state what size batteries will give you 15 minutes of runtime but manufacturers usually give you their best numbers so I would assume the measured runtime is with 5.0 or possibly 4.0 batteries. Another thing to note is that you will get greater performance when plugged into an outlet.

Before you guys get too excited, be aware that this has been spotted in the Makita latin america catalog so at this time I’m not certain when we will get a hold of these here in the USA or if they will be available stateside at all.

A big thanks to YouTube follower Dominic V.L. for spotting this and bringing it to our attention!

wow big surprise from Makita Javier, looks like they might be building on their dual 18v system! That should give it a decent runtime over a standard 18v for sure and then to add the option of a cord as well, could be all the vacuum you ever need if it’s powerful enough! I hope they do decide to bring it to the US and then further north to us poor Canada dwellers…lol Well done to Dominic for bringing to your attention! Good article bro!

Thanks Roger, according to the listing it should get up to 15 minutes of runtime while on battery power. Hope it makes it to north america as well.

      • Roger says:

man I’m sorry I missed the runtime figures at the end there…lol 15 min’s isn’t that great, I’d have expected more but then the cord is there if you need it!
