Makita has been pumping out lots of new tools lately and one of them is the Makita XSC04Z 18v Brushless 5-7/8″ Metal Cutting Circular Saw. The saw uses a 5-7/8” carbide tipped blade and can cut through many types of metal products such as rebar, corrugated roofing, threaded rod, sheet metal and many more.
My thoughts: Saws like this one are becoming more popular for their lightweight, compact design, and they cut fast and with minimal sparks. The carbide tipped blades last a long time and cut faster than most abrasives, without leaving dust and grit everywhere. Features on this new Makita saw include a brushless motor, 2-¼” depth of cut, and a built in chip collector to minimize cleanup.
