Milwaukee is adding a new measuring wheel to their measuring wheel lineup with the new 12″ digital measuring wheel model 48-22-5112 .

Back in the 2000’s when I used to work as a Real Estate Appraiser, I used several tools for measuring property. One of those tools was a measuring wheel which allowed me to measure large distances with ease and was nice because unlike a measuring tape, it didn’t need to hook onto something. Instead it used a wheel to travel over land and measure. I remember having to lift the end of the wheel closer to my eyes to see the measurements and to reset them afterwards. It wasn’t a hassle to do this but I do like Milwaukee’s latest measuring wheel going digital which allows the unit to track measurements at the end of the wheel where your hand holds onto. This means that the measurements are easier to read since they are at arms length and do not require you to lift the wheel end to look at the results.
The handle end has a monochrome LCD panel where you can read the measurements and it is also backlit so you can read even when the sun is down. There is a total of 6 buttons to operate the tool. You have the main power on/off button, a “units” button to measure in Imperial, Metric, and Engineer Scales. A “hold” button allows you to hold a measurement on screen, and the “memory”, “save”, and “clear” buttons allow you to save and recall up to 4 measurements and clear them. Like other measuring wheels, the handle is telescoping to extend when in use and collapse for storage. And as the name suggests, it uses a 12 inch measuring wheel for all sorts of terrain. The wheel is powered by 2 included AAA batteries.
