Milwaukee wowed the world when they came out with their M18 Fuel high torque impact wrenches that rivaled what could only be possible by pneumatic air tools. Soon after in 2015 Dewalt and Makita introduced their own high torque brushless impact wrench models that not only rivaled what Milwaukee had created but one upped them with slightly more torque. Milwaukee not content with staying behind created new M18 Fuel high torque wrench models this year which are essentially second gen models of the originals.

The Milwaukee 2nd Gen M18 Fuel High Torque Impact Wrenches deliver up to 1400 FT-LBS nut busting torque! I say up to because we have two models with different torque specs. Both models feature a 1/2″ anvil although one is a friction ring while the other is a pin detent. The pin detent model gets performance stats similar to their current 2763-20 model with 750 ft-lbs fastening torque and 1,100 ft-lbs nut busting torque. Compared to the current model, the nut busting torque stays the same while fastening torque goes up by 50 ft-lbs. Although the body shrinks down to a class leading 8.1 inches in length.

The 1/2″ friction ring model is the model with all the extra muscle and is the one that flexes 1000 ft-lbs of fastening torque with 1,400 ft-lbs of nut busting torque. This is the model that pushes the cordless high torque impact wrench to the next level in terms of performance. Not only did they add more power but yet they figured out a way to shrink it down to a size that’s still more compact than other high torque impact wrenches out there at 8.4 inches in length. Yes this is shorter than the competition ladies and gentlemen.
M18 FUEL™ High Torque Impact Wrench w/ ½” Friction Ring (2767-22)

The upgrades don’t end there as both models feature 4 drive modes instead of the two on current models. The four modes include 3 selectable speeds/torque plus a new bolt removal mode provides maximum nut-busting torque to remove the most stubborn bolts or nuts and, as soon as it senses the bolt or nut is broken free, the tool then shifts to 750RPM for control when removing fasteners. I also noticed the LED light was moved to the bottom of the handle which should help illuminate better and help with shadows.
The new Milwaukee 2nd Gen M18 Fuel high torque impact wrenches will be available September 2017.
- MSRP: 2766-22 ($449); 2766-20 ($229); 2767-22 ($449); 2767-20 ($229)
The news doesn’t end there, later this year Milwaukee will also introduce an M18 FUEL High Torque Impact Wrench with One-Key in both 1/2″ and 3/4″. More info to come!
