Milwaukee Tools M18 Brushless Blower 3044-20
Milwaukee’s brushless models are typically called FUEL. Fuel doesn’t just represent a brushless power tool, it also represents their best of the best in terms of performance and features. However in time they’ve also released brushless tools without the FUEL branding. These feature brushless motors but don’t represent their best performance or features. This doesn’t mean they’re bad, but they offer a lessor featured product with Milwaukee’s solid quality and performance but at a lower cost.
That’s where this new blower model comes in. It features a brushless motor and still puts out strong performance numbers of 450 CFM and 120 MPH. This actually falls in line with their M18 FUEL blower gen 2 model. In fact, the stats are pretty much the same and even the body shape looks almost identical to the GEN 2 FUEL model. There are a few differences though, for example this new model ditched the two speed selector of the FUEL gen 2 model. It still has a variable speed trigger though. The other differences are slight cosmetic differences with most notably less rubber overmold on the grip and a taper at the start of the blower tube. There are other cosmetic differences here and there but are extremely minor.
Milwaukee states this model weighs in at 4.4 lbs without battery. Low weight helps lessen arm fatigue. It also has a lock on feature for continuous full throttle usage to give your finger a break with long sessions.
This model will launch November 2025 only as a baretool and will be priced at $149.
Milwaukee Tools M18 Brushless String Trimmer Kit 2828-21E
Next up is the Milwaukee M18 brushless string trimmer 2828-21E model. If this model looks and sounds familiar to you, you’re not the only one. I found this model in my records and noticed I wrote about it back in 2020. You can check out my original article here.
This one had me scratching my head as not only does it look the same and even have the same model number. The only major differences I could find were that they added the letter E at the end of the model number and the price is lower. Which is good when times are getting tough and prices keep going up, it’s nice to see something come down in price instead of go up.
As far as features go, I couldn’t spot any differences. Not saying there aren’t any, I’m just saying I couldn’t spot any concrete facts. I did notice though that the new model states it has up to 1.39 HP of performance. The original model didn’t state HP numbers so can’t really say if performance went up or stayed the same.
The next difference was in how the easy load head mentions in the original that you can reload line without head disassembly while the new model changes the wording to “simplifies line loading and can load line in under 30 seconds”.
Other than that, everything seems the same with the same 6,200 max RPM, two speeds with variable speed trigger, brushless motor, easy load head, folding shaft, 14-16″ cutting swath and can use 25’ of .080 or 20’ of .095 trimmer line, and same baretool and kit options.
This E model variant will launch in November 2025 for $149 as a baretool and $229 as a kit with HO XC6.0 ah battery and charger.
