Thanks to Tool Craze Facebook follower Joshua B. a new Ridgid GenX5 18V Dual Port Charger has been spotted. This charger is part of Ridgid’s latest Gen X5 18V line of power tools that debuted last year 2015 and are backwards compatible with previous 18V X lines from Ridgid.
The standout feature of this new charger is that it’s a dual port charger meaning it can charge two batteries. It is unclear at the moment whether it will charge them both at the same time or if they will be charged one at a time.
Next on the features list are 2 built in USB ports to charge your cell phone and tablets or just about anything that runs on USB and also has a couple of built in AC outlets to plug in other tools or extensions. A reset switch can be seen on the right side in the side shot picture. It could be a built in fuse. Also like many power tool battery chargers, it can also wall mounted for easy convenient access to your batteries while keeping the charger off the ground and freeing up valuable table top space.
I am unclear of how much they will retail for and when it will be available but my guess is that it could be very soon. Keep your eyes peeled at the Home Depot for these.
