New Ryobi 18V Brushless 1/2 Inch Drill Driver Kit P1815 P252

A new Ryobi 18V drill has been spotted and just like their recent trend, it’s also a brushless model. The new model is a compact drill named the Ryobi 18V Brushless 1/2 Inch Drill Driver Kit P1815 P252. Yes this model has two model numbers (confusing isn’t it) with the P252 model number corresponding to the drill itself while the P1815 model number is for the kit with two 2ah compact batteries, charger and soft tool bag.

At the time of writing, the only info on this drill comes from the HD website however no torque numbers are provided which is weird. It does have a 1/2 inch chuck so it should have better performance than a drill with a 3/8 inch chuck so my guestimate is that it has more than 275 in-lbs of torque.

After a closer inspection of this drill, it looks oddly familiar so I dug through the Tool Craze website database and found that the P252 model in this article is very similar to the compact Ryobi drill that was spotting over in the UK in November of 2017 model R18DD3-0. While the two look almost identical I can tell you for sure they are not the same drill as there are a few differences such as a few cosmetics and the fact that the R18DD3-0 model is not brushless while the P252 is brushless. The UK R18DD3-0 model has 50nm of torque which is about 442.52 in-lbs torque. I can’t tell you for certain if that’s how much torque the USA P252 brushless model will have however it might be an indication of performance.

This Ryobi 18V Brushless 1/2 Inch Drill Driver Kit P1815 P252 will be sold as a kit (P1815) for $99 with two compact batteries, charger and soft tool bag. You can also buy it as a combo kit P1834 that comes with a new brushless impact driver P239 and two 2ah compact batteries, charger and soft tool bag for $149.
