If you’re familiar at all with the Ryobi 18v 1+ line you’ll know that they push past what you might think of in a battery powered tool. An 18v cordless glue gun or a cordless bolt cutter aren’t available from other tool brands, but I think they’ve come up with something even less expected than any of their most innovative tools. That tool is their new 18v 1+ lopper. Keep in mind this is currently sold in the UK and there hasn’t been any word if or when this will hit North America however I’ll convert the metric specs into SAE.

My thoughts: This definitely continues the more recent Ryobi tradition of coming out with 18v tools that no other brand has, and this lopper is no different. This unit can handle branches and vines up to 32mm (1.26”) thick and has a soft rubber overmold handle for less fatigue during extended use. It’s also not too loud at 80.2 decibels. I think that this would be really nice to use when pruning overhead due to the extra length of the tool vs a traditional lopper and also will be good for hard to reach branches. These will be heavier than a traditional lopper however it may be a good fit for older folks who don’t have as much clamping arm strength but could still handle lifting this unit.
