You don’t hear too much from Ryobi’s 40 volt outdoor power tool line however there’s been a bunch of new 40V tools that have been launched. One of them is the Ryobi 40V Cordless Leaf Vacuum / Mulcher RY40450 .

The Ryobi 40V Cordless Leaf Vacuum / Mulcher RY40450 is shaped very similar to the also recently spotted 18V blower vacuum except this unit is only a vacuum not a blower and runs on 40 volt batteries. A single 4.0ah 40V battery and charger is included with the Ryobi 40V Cordless Leaf Vacuum / Mulcher RY40450. This vacuum is also good at mulching with a durable metal impeller that is said to shred up to 16 bags of leaves down to 1. A bag is included to collect leaves and clutter and front mounted wheels help relieve some of the extra weight from your arm. Unlike the 18V blower vacuum version, this 40V vacuum / mulcher gets pretty good reviews on the HD site.
This Ryobi 40v vacuum/mulcher is available now and has been since January and retails for $179 as a kit.
A big thanks to DrewBHAM for spotting and sharing!
There’s also news of Ryobi coming out with a new 40V mower with the RYOBI 20 inch 40V Brushless SMART TREK Self Propelled Walk Behind Mower with 6.0 Ah Battery Charger RY40LM30 but unfortunately HD pulled the listing before I could write about it. Expect to read about it here at Tool Craze soon when the info is available to share with you guys but at least you know a new brushless self propelled Ryobi 40V mower and new larger 6.0ah 40V batteries are coming soon.

It seems like they could have just thrown in a compatible tube to put on the exhaust, bag end, and a protective guard on the intake, and allowed this to be used as a blower too. It just seems like most who mulch, tend to need to blow so they shouldn’t need two separate tools if buying the upgraded model.
I would have also liked if they had designed it to take 2 x 18V packs rather than 1 x 40V since I’m already invested in 18V packs and even if it were only bundled with more/new 18V packs, those would be compatible with other tools I have. I just don’t see any need for a pack that is only 40V, unlike the Dewalt multi-voltage design. Mower? Sure it needs power too, again 2 x 18V packs for 36V (same as the faux-40V designation).
