XBU05 model

Both models are very similar and appear to be the same base tool with the main difference being the blower tube. The XBU05 model comes with a short tube making it good as a light dutry jobsite blower for blowing things like sawdust off of table top surfaces. The XBU06 model has a longer tube making it well suited for reaching light debris such as sawdust on the floor also making it a light duty blower. They both feature the same 113 CFM of air volume with variable 3 speed motor however the blower tip makes a difference on how fast the air velocity is. For example the XBU05 model has a rated 219 MPH air velocity while the longer tube on the XBU06 model is rated for 152 MPH air velocity. I wouldn’t call either model a leaf blower as those stats simply are not suitable for use as an outdoor power tool. They are best suited for “sweeping” jobsite debris such as saw dust, wood chips, drywall and concrete dust off of hard surfaces. Makita shows the longer tubed XBU06 model being used as a leaf blower however keep in mind it was done on a hard surface so it may be used as a light duty leaf blower on hard surfaces only. Don’t expect either to have the necessary blowing power to push leaves on grass and especially not wet leaves.

XBU06 Model

Both are very light coming in at 4.1 lbs with 5.0 battery for the short tube XBU05 model while the long tube XBU06 model comes in at 4.6 lbs with battery although which battery is not mentioned, could be either the 5.0 or 6.0ah, either way 10 celled batteries are very similar in weight. Runtime for both is also mentioned with the short tube XBU05 rated up 17 minutes on high and up to 130 minutes on low while using a 5.0 ah battery while the longer tube model XBU06 model rated at up to 16 minutes on high with a 6.0 ah battery.

The short tube model the XBU05 comes in either a kit XBU05ST1 5.0 ah battery and charger or XBU05Z as a baretool. The longer tube XBU06 comes only as a baretool model XBU06Z at the time of writing.
