2 New Ridgid 3 Gallon NXT Wet/Dry Vac(s) – Corded & Cordless Variant

Both new Ridgid models are part of their vacs with the NXT naming. Both vacuums are very similar with the main differences being the fact that one is corded and the other cordless. They both offer a rectangular toolbox design with flat’ish tops and bottoms that allow them to be stacked.

Similar Features:

They are both the same size and shape and have a 3 gallon rated capacity although the tank may not actually suck up 3 full gallons. The smaller 3 gallon capacity allows them to be “30 percent smaller and 10 percent lighter than the toolbox-style 4.5 Gallon ProPack Wet/Dry Vac, and due to the high-efficiency design provides a 20% increase in overall vacuum efficiency for a multitude of jobs” according to Ridgid.

They have on board storage for the included  6 foot 1-7/8″ flexible hose and bundled accessories. One very neat feature is a suction powered dust pan where the one side of the bottom of the vacuum is able to suck up debris from the bottom of the vac when the hose is “docked”.

Both models also feature built in blowers to quickly “sweep” up things like a saw dust covered workbench.

Differences

The differences between the two are as mentioned above, one being corded (15 foot cord) and the other battery powered. Both models are strong within their category with the corded model having a motor rated at 5.0 peak horsepower according to Ridgid and has a suction rating of 100 CFM according to the Home Depot. The cordless 18 volt model is rated for 76 CFM of suction (according to the Home Depot) which is very strong not just for an 18 volt model but a cordless vacuum in general!

The runtime for the cordless 18V model is as follows: 2ah=6min, 3ah=10min, 4ah=13min, 6ah=20min, and 9ah=29 minutes. Both models look the same and the one thing to tell them apart is the color scheme with the corded model having an orange tank while the cordless model has a gray tank. Price is also very similar with the corded model being the cheaper of the two at $119 and the cordless priced at $129 as a baretool.
