2021 Gen 2 Milwaukee M18 Fuel 16 Angled & 15 Gauge Finish Nailers

Back in 2019 Milwaukee updated their 18 gauge battery powered M18 Fuel nailer with a second gen model to address some of the issues that affected the first gen models. However the update was only for the 18 gauge model but now in 2021 Milwaukee has announced that they are indeed also updating other cordless nailers in their line and now have a new Gen 2, 16 gauge angled finish nailer 2841-21CT and a new 15 gauge finish nailer 2839-21CT to round out the bunch.

Just like the first gen M18 Fuel nailers, these are also hard hitting and have the power to nail even into hardwoods. They also have instant nail fires with no ramp up times. They also have the usual 2 mode single fire and bump fire modes. Milwaukee says the Gen 2 models can “sink nails into the most demanding materials.” They’ve also said to have addressed the nail hole issues of the first generation and these Gen 2 models are said to leave “clean consistent nail holes” with “the least amount of damage possible on the finished material.” A cleaner smaller hole means less time and effort filling and finishing nail holes later. Milwaukee says they are using a “nitrogen air spring mechanism in these nailers is leveraged to deliver this performance, providing the most pneumatic like experience out of any cordless finish nailers.”

What I like the most of these new Gen 2 nailers is the compact size. Both the 16 gauge and 15 gauge appear to have a similar body size and the 15 gauge looks very compact for what it is considering my Ryobi 15 gauge is pretty big. So I welcome the smaller form factor in a cordless nailer. Both Gen 2 models appear to be very svelte.

So far the Gen 2 16 gauge only comes in an angled magazine configuration and the 15 gauge comes in a standard angled magazine as well.

Both models will come as a kit with a single compact 2.0ah battery pack, dual voltage charger, and contractor bag and will also be available as baretools. The 15 gauge nailer will be availabe in November 2021 and the 16 gauge will be available in January 2022.
