XML11 self propelled model

We’ll start off with their new mowers (XML10CT1 & XML11CT1) and both are very similar models with a 21″ cutting width and plastic decks that are said to make them lighter weight for convenience. The biggest difference between the two is that the XML11CT1 model has the option to be used self propelled with variable speed of 1.5-3 MPH. Other than that, both models include a bag, folding handles for compact storage footprints, variable cutting height options, ball bearing on their wheels for smoother pushing, and soft starts for better gear life according to Makita. They also have covered battery compartments and the battery runtime is said to be able to cut up to 0.55 acres push only on both models with a pair of 5ah batteries and up to 0.44 acres in self propelled mode with a pair of 5ah batteries on the XML11 model only.

Makita offers a handful of battery powered mowers and this appears to be somewhere in the middle of their range with upper range features like a 21″ cutting width and fancy bells and whistles like the self propelled mode on the XML11 model only and ball bearings on their wheels. It seems like a choice for a homeowner since they don’t use a steel deck or a brushless motor. It would be nice if they added front headlights like other battery powered mowers.

4 gallon model

Now let’s move on to the new dry dust extractors XCV21PTX & XCV24ZX. Makita makes a ton of these so it’s hard to keep up with each new model that comes out. They both look a lot alike their previous 36V X2 dust extractors and come in 2 sizes, in a 2.1 gallon XCV21PTX and a 4 gallon model XCV24ZX. Both of these new models offer dry only suction and are paired with brushless motors powered by two 18V batteries and have 74 CFM suction which is very strong for a battery powered vacuum and similar in performance to a corded 4.25 peak HP vacuum or at least close to it in terms of rated CFM’s. Runtime is said to be up to 80 minutes but no doubt in the lowest setting with a pair of 5ah batteries. No runtime figures on high setting are given. These are nice smaller vacuums good for use alone or attached to other power tools for improved dust management and have 360 degree castors so you can tug the vacuum along as you go. They also have HEPA filters installed making them good at capturing a rated 99.97% of particulates .3 microns and larger according to Makita. They are also quieter than typical vacuums at 64 decibels rated loudness. These are very much like the rest of their X2 36V dust extractors minus the ability to suck wet messes and liquids and do not have their AWS (auto wireless start) bluetooth enabled feature that some of their other models have but if you don’t need those features, why pay extra for them? More options for different budgets.
