It appears that Ryobi is discontinuing their great P731 18V inflator / deflator and are replacing it with a new model called the Ryobi 18V Dual Function Inflator Deflator P747 .
The Ryobi 18V Dual Function Inflator Deflator P747 maintains all the features that made the original so great such as the ability to inflate tires and high volume low pressure inflatables like air beds, beach balls, etc and the ability to deflate low pressure inflatables faster and with a built in back lit LCD display to dial in the desired PSI and check current PSI. It can also be programmed to fill your tire to your desired PSI and will shut off automatically when it reaches the selected PSI pressure just like the original. But now the new model features a new more compact streamlined design that has a depth as deep as the battery pack. It looks like the new model has been in the gym and shed a few inches off it’s waist.
The new model is more squared and angular and they placed the LCD display and buttons on the front side and the tire hose uses a different screw on connector. It appears most of the differences are cosmetic. Hard to tell if it offers the same performance or better but the new model does mention it can fill a car tire from flat to full in 4 minutes and inflates a twin size air mattress in 30 seconds.
One thing I don’t like on this new model is the side placement of the display. I loved how easy it is to read the top mounted display on the P731 model which I have and when I bought the new Dewalt 20V inflator, I was very disappointed in it’s side mounted display which requires you to tip the unit so the display faces upwards towards you and now I see Ryobi is making the same mistake Dewalt did, bummer. Although it appears that they designed the unit to lay flat on it’s back side when in use so the display is facing up towards you which is an interesting design.
The new model appears to be available now for $49.98.

Things I dislike about my P731:
1. the low pressure tube is flimsy and the nozzle tip piece does not lock on
2. the set-it-and-forget-it feature is not accurate. If I set the pressure to 32.0psi, the tool will inflate to something like 33.0psi, then stop, then lose 1.5psi of line pressure after the motor shuts off. Not very intuitive or accurate.
3. even though the high pressure side is rated for 150psi, the seals in the presta valve adapter don’t hold much beyond 80psi. Annoying when inflating road bike tires to 100psi+.
When I reviewed the P731 I noticed that the low pressure tube is very cheap and as you say flimsy but never had any issues with the nozzle tip. I also noticed the slight drop in PSI when filling tires but I would compensate by setting the target PSI to 0.5 or 1 PSI higher than what I needed. As for your third concern, I never filled anything other than car tires and never needed to go higher than 60 so for my uses it did its job. Fortunately for users like yourself, the new model shown in this article uses a screw on connector that wont slip off.
