La Vergne, TN – The new Powermatic ® PM2820EVS Drill Press is engineered for superior torque and productivity with a gear drive system and electronic variable speed (EVS) motor. The 20” stationary drill press also features a removable center table, laser crosshairs for work-piece positioning, patented depth stop and premium fence with adjustable stop.
This professional-grade drill press is ideal for production facilities, professional woodworkers and metalworkers, vocational and educational shops and advanced enthusiasts. Typical applications include pre-drilling and drilling for assembly, spindle sanding, repetitive drilling, fixturing and countersinking.
The PM2820EVS Drill Press is intended for multi-material use. Its geared drive transfers torque more consistently and dependably than a belt drive at all speeds for multi- material use on wood, steel, aluminum and plastics. The drill press is powered by a 1 hp, single-phase, 8-amp EVS motor that’s prewired for 115 volts.
The PM2820EVS features a versatile, 20 ½” x 15 ¼” center table that easily can be removed from its supporting frame to provide better access for fixturing and drilling oversized work pieces or installation of accessory tables. The large, cast iron table also adjusts to a range of positions and tilts from 0-90 degrees.
Variable spindle speed of the PM2820EVS ranges from 150-870 (low) to 600-3600 (high), and is monitored on a front panel digital readout. The spindle has a 6” range of travel with a maximum distance to the table of 23”. Spindle distance to the base is 45”. The drill press has a swing of 20” and is equipped with a 5/8”, keyed chuck.
High visibility crosshair lasers pinpoint the tool point location for maximum accuracy. Two integrated LED work lights illuminate the table surface and reduce shadows for clear project viewing.
A patented depth stop is integrated into the handle to make countersinking quick and easy. Also, the premium, extruded aluminum fence includes an adjustable stop.
The powerful PM2820EVS Drill Press features solid cast iron and steel construction throughout with an oversized base for stability and rigidity. Overall dimensions of the 336.6-lb. machine are 24 ½” L x 20 ½” W x 71-7/8” H. The base measures 22 ¾” L x 6-3/8” W x 2 ¾” H.
Exclusive accessories for the PM2820EVS include a clamp table and downdraft table, either of which can be quickly installed with four hex bolts to replace the removable center table.
The Powermatic Clamp Table incorporates a MICROJIG TM X-PAD TM Dovetail Clamp that applies hold-down and in-line pressure as it tightens to keep the work piece flat without additional clamps. The X-PAD can be turned 90 degrees to secure round and oblong stock with a single clamp.
The Powermatic Downdraft Table is ideal for spindle sanding, collecting chips and keeping the tabletop clear. Constructed of heavy-duty steel, the downdraft table’s hole pattern allows maximum airflow to pull dust and chips from the table surface to 4” dust port.
Also available are an optional tool shelf and magnetic strip. Both handy storage solutions attach with existing bolts to the drill press head.
