Harbor Freight is at it again with another new Bauer tool, this time the 20V brushless 1/2″ hammer drill. Let’s check it out below.

Bauer 20V Brushless 1/2″ Hammer Drill
Two years ago was when Harbor Freight made the original Bauer 20V brushless drill. It was priced at $59.99 at the time as a baretool which was more expensive than their original brushed motor veresion as a kit and had less torque. Unless you really wanted a brushless drill in the Bauer line up, it wasn’t a very smart choice. That gets fixed today as Bauer now has a new brushless drill that fixes the shortcomings of the original model.
Besides being a hammer drill for drilling into concrete, this new model gets mo powa’ baby! It has solid torque numbers at 575 in-lbs of torque. That’s plenty of torque and strong enough that they felt it needed a second handle, so they supplied one for extra grip under heavy work.
Of course the side handle can be placed on either left or right side of the tool and removed altogether if not needed.
It has an all metal 1/2″ keyless chuck and all metal gear construction for durability. And the LED light is on the bottom of the tool facing up at the front for better illumination than just above the trigger. I complained about the original being too long, especially since it was a brushless drill and though they did shorten the length a bit on this model, it’s not by much at a still long 7-7/8 inches in length. You can find drills with more than double the torque of this model and yet are about 6 inches in length, yet this model is almost 8 inches in length. But that’s to be expected for a budget brand and a budget drill, but at least the price is good and has great torque for the price.
