Milwaukee M12 Auto Shop Borescope with Wifi File Sharing 3151-21
Milwaukee’s latest inspection camera is designed for serious auto professionals to help them quickly diagnose any potential underhood issues lying deep inside.
It’s got a large 5.5 inch screen so you can see details including those pesky hairline cracks that might be present.
Forget about the days when you had to whip out an SD card and plug into your pc to transfer files. This new borescope is featuring modern tech such as wifi connectivity. This allows you to send and transfer files onto your local network wirelessly. You don’t even need a pc to send files. You can send a file via email straight from the device itself! And the touchscreen makes it easy to do so.
The touchscreen allows you to pinch to zoom and rotate the images. You can also draw, add audio or text notes and trim video for documentation.
The camera head is 5cm thick to fit into tight spaces and has a 5 foot cable for reach. It has dual cameras for direct front view and a handy side camera view. Both with LED lights each so you’re never left in the dark. Video quality is HD, not ultra HD (4K), not full HD (1080p), but it’s the original HD of 720p. Nothing spectacular and for the price it should at least have came with 4k, if not at least 1080p. HD has technically been out since the late 90’s believe it or not so it’s a bit low tech nowadays.
I believe they possibly used an HD camera feed as that would have larger pixels on the sensor. Those that geek out on camera sensor tech know that less pixels means larger pixels on a camera sensor. Larger pixels means more light comes in for better low light performance. In laymans terms, low light means poor image quality but less but larger pixels helps in low light for better image quality.
A cool feature that’s built into this inspection camera is what Milwaukee terms as HEAT SENSE. In a nutshell, this means that the camera will detect if an engine is too hot to inspect so as to protect your pricey investment. This thing aint cheap.
M12 battery power makes it portable with hot-swappable batteries.
You’re probably wondering about price about now. It will launch in November 2025 and will be priced at $1499.
