I love woodworking and it’s unfortunate we don’t talk more often about woodworking tools but today is the exception as Bora Tool has informed me of their new Bora 3.25hp fixed base router for our woodworking friends.

Bora already had a 3.25 hp router although it was just the motor unit which had to be mounted on a stand and lift to be usable so it appears that Bora gave it a base and now it’s complete to be used standalone for freehand routing. What we have here is that combination and its model number is the PM-6250 which is not different from the motor unit by itself which is the PM-6200.
Bora includes a single base and it’s a fixed base. Of course you can still dial in the cutting depth but a “fixed” base means it doesn’t have the plunging action of a plunging base.
The motor unit is at the upper range of routers at 3.25 hp thanks to its 15 amp motor making this a chunky boi yet powerful enough to use 1/2″ router bits with ease. It comes with two polycarbonate base plates, one for use with standard bushings and one for use with larger 2.5″ diameter opening for larger bits. It has a variable speed dial on top for 10,000 to 22,000 RPM and has them fancy electronics to keep the speed constant underload, so the speed keeps up when the going gets tough and it also has a soft start. It comes with both 1/4″ and 1/2″ collets and a couple of wrenches to swap router bits. MSRP is stated at $429.
