A new Dewalt Flexvolt power tool pops up, this time in the UK and it’s a vacuum, the Dewalt Flexvolt Wet Dry Vacuum DCV584L .
If the model number seems familiar, that’s because it’s based on the previous Dewalt 20V/18V vacuums DCV580 DCV581 & DCV582. All of which are cordless 20V/18V vacuums that run on Dewalt’s newer lithium ion slide pack 20V Max batteries (known as 18V XR in Europe) and also their older 18V pod style batteries. These vac’s offer decent suction good enough for small pick up jobs and can also do wet pick up. They also feature a 2 gallon tank (7.5 liter) and some models also offer a built in cord to plug into the grid for AC power.
The Dewalt Flexvolt Wet Dry Vacuum DCV584L is basically the same thing as the previous models as it has all the same features, dimension, can take the same batteries, is a cordless/corded wet dry vacuum, and even has the same performance. The only difference I can tell is that it has a new model number and the fact that it is designed to accept the new Dewalt Flexvolt 60V Max (54 volt) batteries.
I would have assumed the previous models would be able to accept the new Flexvolt batteries but maybe that is not the case and is why Dewalt felt that a new portable 2 gallon wet dry cordless/corded vacuum was needed that had the ability to accept the new Flexvolt batteries. It’s hard to tell really.
I am however surprised that the new Dewalt Flexvolt Wet Dry Vacuum DCV584L doesn’t take advantage of the higher voltage from the 60V (54V) Flexvolt battery voltage as it still produces the same performance with Air flow measuring 15.9 liters per second. In case you’re wondering, previous models got the same rated performance based on 20V max (18V).
The new Dewalt Flexvolt Wet Dry Vacuum DCV584L is available now in Europe, although I am not sure if or when this particular model will make it’s way to North America.
