Grizzly Industrial is selling two handheld pneumatic drum sanders under the Shop Fox branding and they are models D4594 and D4595.
The Shop Fox D4594 and D4595 Handheld Pneumatic Drum Sanders are just as the name says, they are portable handheld drum sanders and they chuck right up to any cordless drill (or electric or pneumatic drill) and have a handle on the opposite side with bearing inside so the handle spins freely as you grip it. It works similarly to how you’d use a oscillating spindle sander except it’s portable, giving you the freedom to work around the material rather than the material working around the spindle sander.
At first I didn’t understand why it’s called a pneumatic tool but the video shows that there’s an inflatable bag that inflates to place enough pressure inside the sand paper tube to hold it firmly in place. It uses regular schrader tire valves that can easily be inflated with a bike pump.
The D4594 is the smaller model with a 4″ x 1-1/8″ diameter size drum and the D4595 is the larger model with a 7-1/2″ x 2-1/4″ diameter size drum. Both are available now and the D4594 is priced at $69.95 and D4595 is priced at $99.95.
