While inside Harbor Freight the other day I spotted a Hercules sign showing three new cordless 20V cordless tools featuring brushless motors with a new drill, hammer drill and an impact driver.

When Harbor Freight released the Hercules brand of cordless tools a couple years ago, it was big news for them as they launched their first attempt at a 20v battery platform, alongside the Bauer 20v system that launched right around the same time.
While the specs and pricing of the Hercules tools were very good for their respective categories, the main thing missing from the entire line was the standout feature of using brushless motors.
While brushed motors are still great performers, brushless motors have several benefits such as longer runtimes, less heat, more power and they’re typically more compact that their brushed counterparts.
The two main downsides of brushless motors go hand in hand. More electronics and more cost to produce.
So we can expect the Hercules Brushless tools to have a slightly higher price point over the regular Hercules tools, but knowing Harbor Freight they should be competitively priced with other competing brushless tools.
I spotted them on an in store sign, but beyond that there’s no official info. Although official release dates aren’t available yet, word on the street is they should be hitting the market early 2020.
If Harbor Freight is smart they’ll offer more of the other Hercules tools with brushless motors.
