La Vergne, TN – The new JET ® 10” x 50” Variable Speed Knee Mill (JTM-1050VS2) is built for a long term of productive, safe and operator-friendly service. Among its features are a certified, proprietary Meehanite ® column casting; a hardened and precision-ground steel work table; built-in leveling feet; internal coolant reservoir; and LED work lamp.
This durable, variable-speed milling machine is particularly well-suited for plant maintenance, mold making, model shops, tool and die operations, farming and agriculture and light manufacturing (job shops). Typical applications include face milling, end milling, slot cutting, drilling, and tapping of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The knee mill weighs 2,466 lbs. Its rugged, Meehanite column casting with enhanced ribbing ensures rigidity and tolerance retention. The newly designed column base includes built-in leveling feet, which simplify and speed initial set-up by eliminating the need to lift the machine.
For added convenience, the mill’s innovative column base includes an internal coolant reservoir for use with an optional external coolant system (#660125 – coolant pump not included) and chip pan (#660130).
The mill’s 10” x 50”, heavy-duty work table supports up to 840 lbs, which is 17 percent more than previous models. Turcite ® B (PTFE) low-friction bearing material is used on both the X and Y axis. Chrome lead screws also are provided on the X and Y axis. An LED work light makes it easy to quickly illuminate the work piece.
The variable speed mill features high-precision, Class 7 spindle bearings and a one-piece quill pinion and shaft. Its precision bored and honed milling head ensures consistently high quality cuts. Drill stop depths can be changed quickly with a quick- adjust, quill stop nut. The mill is driven by a powerful 3 HP, 230/ 460V, 3 phase motor, which is pre-wired for 230V (surcharge for 460V pre-wiring).
Operator safety features include a swing-away spindle guard, as well as a heavy-duty spindle brake with an e-stop on the swing-away control panel. A three-stage power down feed with automatic stop also is provided.
