In this article I will be reviewing the Klein Tools 8in1 Interchangeable Insulated Slim Tip Screwdriver Set. As a full disclosure, Klein Tools was kind enough to send me a product sample of the insulated screwdriver set at no cost to me and as always I will provide my honest unbiased feedback. I am not paid or swayed in any way to give a positive review.
We wrote about these Klein insulated screwdriver sets back in October 2019 when they were announced. What’s great about these Kleins screwdrivers, besides being insulated so you don’t zap yourself when working with live wires is that not only are they interchangeable with a single handle and several tips to cut down on storage, the tips are slim to fit deep into small openings. Something that bit holders that use 1/4″ hex bits can’t do.
The whole set comes with a handle, 5 shafts with three of them having double ended bits and the other two shafts are only single ended bits, and also comes a nice storage pouch. Everything is high quality as you’d expect from Klein and the bits lock easily into the handle. The connection is solid with only a little bit of play and the bits stay locked. Unlocking them is easy with a small turn on the front of the handle – in either direction and the bit’s eject thanks to a built in spring action. The handle itself is comfy and easy to grip, not as ergonomic as something from Wera but the ergo’s are perfectly fine.
All the tips appear to be machined nicely and the #2 phillips bits have very good fitment. I never work with running current so I wasn’t able to test how well these insulated screwdrivers are however they appear to be very well insulated. The shafts are insulated and so is the handle for double the protection. The only negatives I could find was that the bit tips aren’t magnetic which would have been nice and it’s very easy to rotate the collar on the handle that ejects bits as it doesn’t take much to eject bits.
