Lamello Invis Mx2 – Invisible Screw Fasteners for Woodworking

If you’ve ever assembled cheap furniture you’ve probably come across fasteners such as the ones in this article but the difference with the Lamello Invis fasteners is that they are not visible when fastened.

The Lamello Invis Mx2 system uses something similar but the female and male end of the fasteners are inside the ends of the joint and are not exposed when the fastener is assembled. They use a screw thread type system that makes the joints easy assemble and disassemble.

Sounds impossible right? Since the fasteners are inside the joint with no apparent way to reach them, it does seem impossible but Lamellos Invis system uses specially designed fasteners that are operated externally by magnets to turn the hidden screws. You just attach a special bit onto a drill (that’s basically a plastic box with magnet inside) and as the drill spins it rotates the magnets when then rotate the hidden fasteners. Pretty neat right?

In the end you’ll be able to construct your own furniture with hidden joints that can later be disassembled for storage or when you need to move.

Sounds like a perfect system right? It would be in my opinion but the Lamello Invis Mx2 system is expensive with a $565 retail price on Amazon at the time of writing. That gets you 20 fasteners along with everything you need to get started. It’s a steep price to get started but they might be the only solution at the time if you need an invisible fastener system that you can unscrew at any time.
