These new Makita self leveling lasers offer 3 planes which offer a three dimensional axis of X, Y, and Z. In laymans terms, it offers two intersecting vertical planes and one horizontal axis that intersects with the two vertical planes and offers 6 intersection points, thus offering 360 degree leveling. Tired of having to replace consumable batteries? Both of these models SK700D & SK700GD are powered by Makita’s 12V CXT batteries. Both SK700D & SK700GD models are basically the same unit however the SK700D model is the red laser model with visibility up to 82 feet and the SK700GD is the green laser model 115 feet with both being able to be detected up to 230 feet away with a laser detector. Accuracy is said to be as good as +/- 1/16” at 33 feet. Runtime of both units is up to 22 hours for the red laser and up to 14 hours with the green laser when both are using a 4.0ah battery.

As can be seen above, both units come with a removable magnetic bracket for wall mounting and also feature a fine vertical line adjustment knob on the side of the unit and the integrated pendulum lock deactivates the self leveling function for when this application is need such as during slope and incline applications. The bracket also has 1/4″ and 5/8″ threads for use with a tripod. The lasers themselves appear to be built tough with plenty of rubber overmolding and the laser modules look to be well protected and Makita says these lasers have an IP54 rating making them dust and water resistant.
