Milwaukee may have more battery powered heated workwear however Makita has some more interesting options as they too have their own heated jackets and even cooling jackets and helmet fans and now they’ve come out with an 18V battery powered cordless heated blanket model DCB200A.
The Makita heated blanket is powered by your standard 18V LXT battery pack and it’s good they went with 18 volt power since it can provide longer runtime than a 12 volt battery. In fact, Makita claims you can get up to 35 hours of heat with this blanket when running on a 6.0ah battery pack and I’m pretty sure this is on the lowest heat setting. Expect considerably less runtime when on the medium and high heat settings as this heated blanket has 3 heat settings of H/M/L. And a built in LED heat controller lets you select and see which heat setting you’re on with red, white and blue lights.
The blanket itself is not very big at 55-1/8″ X 27-9/16″ and is just large enough to be worm around your shoulders or around your waist like an Irish Kilt. And has snap buttons to make it easier to wrap around the body and be worn this way. Like other heated wear, it has water and wind resistance thanks to it’s Polyester fabric and has a zippered pocket to store the battery and battery holder. The battery holder also doubles as a USB power source to keep your phone charged.

Interesting product. I can see it being used more recreationally or domestically. Ideal for camping, cold sports days, bbq’s etc. Depending what price they end up in Australia, I may consider buying one.
