Makita Brushless 18V 6-1/2″ Circular Saw XSH03Z

Announced back in February at the World Of Concrete trade show, Makita continues to push the limits of cordless with the addition of their 18V LXT 6-1/2″ brushless circular saw XSH03Z. This saw has the “automatic speed change” technology that was built into their brushless 4-1/2″ 18V LXT grinder XAG03M. I was privileged to try out the brushless angle grinder last year and switching between modes high speed/high torque was flawless and kept the tool running efficiently. I expect this new brushless 6-1/2″ circular saw to do the same.

It uses 6-1/2″ inch circular saw blades just like the majority of cordless 18V circular saws instead of full size 7-1/4″ circular saw blades meaning it will have slightly less cut capacity of 2-1/4″ at 90°. Also like most cordless circular saws, the blade is on the left side which makes it easier for right handed users. Other new features include a rafter hook, dual LED lights, fuel gauge, and an impressive 7.3 lbs weight AND that’s with the battery attached.

I feel this is a great addition to their LXT line as users have been asking for a brushless Makita 18 volt LXT circular saw. Users will appreciate the low weight when working long periods of time and especially when making cuts overhead. If it is anything like the new brushless grinder, we can expect more power and runtime than similar brushed 18V power tools.

That looks like a really sweet saw and I’m having a hard time picking between this and the Milwaukee brushless. Truthfully Javier, I might go Makita.
Nice site by the way Javier, I’m really liking watching you expand in the field!
